Precision farming estate

Precision farming estate

Can precision farming preserve the historical landscape? This we want to show on the country estate of Huize Almelo between Kloosterhaar and Langeveen. Together with the owner and the Aequator office we are planning to turn the estate into an experimenting garden for new techniques of remote-sensing, data-analysis and gps-control. These techniques are not only applied for agricultural production, but also for more sustainable use of water, soil and land and for integrated food chain management. By combining different scale levels of parcel, farm, estate and region both agriculture and landscape will profit.

The project won a prize in the contest ‘Bread and circuses’ of the national board of governmental advisors on spatial matters.
