Polderlab Vrouwe Venne

Polderlab Vrouwe Venne is a joint initiative of Land van Ons (‘Our Land’) and Leiden University. It explores new forms of food production in peatland areas. In collaboration with innovative entrepreneurs new crops and cultivations are tested and new food supply chains are developed. Starting point is to stop lowering of peat soils and to enhance biodiversity.

Target area is 33 ha farmland in the Vrouwe Vennepolder near Leiden, owned by Land van Ons.

Circular Landscapes makes up the landscape design, in collaboration with architect Joost van Ettekoven and RE Landscape. The project is supported by the Dutch Creative Industries Fund.
