Nature inclusive farming

Nature inclusive farming

In the nature reserve of the Maashorst in Brabant the largest agroforestry farm of the Netherlands is being built. On a surface area of 25 hectares perennial crops are mixed with animal grazing according to the principles of permaculture. No artificial fertilizers or pesticides are used and all food products –nuts, fruits, berries, corn, vegetables, eggs, dairy and meat- are sold in the immediate vicinity. The national Fund for nature inclusive local farms supplies initial investments and specialist knowledge. This Fund promotes the implementation of agroforestry in the Netherlands as a whole and supports farms who want to take this up.

Circular Landscapes participates in the Fund and is responsible for landscape planning of all supported farms. The project for Maashorst won a prize in the contest ‘Bread and circuses’ of the national board of governmental advisors on spatial matters.
