Biodivers cropping
National and provincial authorities took up a joined effort to stimulate agricultural innovation in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. Part of this ‘regiodeal’ is to develop a new cropping system that enhances biodiversity, with flowery field edges and a more nature friendly crop rotation. This is combined with improving water management and setting up regional products and supply chains, e.g. a local brand of beer made of local barley.
In collaboration with local farmers and other stakeholders Circular Landscapes made up an integrated landscape plan for a selected pilot area within the so-called Grenspark Groot Saeftinghe. Special attention is paid for the historical pattern of typical creeks and dikes. This landscape plan is a follow-up to an earlier masterplan for the whole Grenspark.
